DESCRIPTION: France, an indescribably outrageous mid 19th century portico clock, the stepped base, entablature and top inlaid with brass, mother of pearl, and green and pink dyed bone fragments, with stamped brass ornament and moldings trimming the ebonized case, twist turned columns with stamped capitals and bases, and trimmed with stamped brass vines, gilt, rococo revival style bezel with roman numeral white enamel dial, gilt gridiron pendulum with ornament matching the bezel, and 8 day, two train pendule de Paris movement striking on a bell
CONDITION: case with some inlay lifting, case top warped, brass trim loose at top rear right, back, bezel with minor loss to gilding, and minor corrosion, dial with hairlines and restoration, pendulum good, movement ticks and strikes, bell replaced. Portico clocks are usually conservative in design, but this one went wild.
